Frequently asked questions

If you can't find the answer here, you're very welcome to get in touch.

What does Therapy with Direction mean?

Therapy with Direction means that we start with what matters to you. You might be dealing with a specific difficulty, a recurring pattern, a life crisis or simply a feeling that something in your life no longer feels right. Together we find a focus for the therapy and keep checking in on what is changing and what you need. You don't need to know the direction at the start — we can find it together.

Do I need a specific problem to start therapy?

No. You don't need to be in crisis, or be able to explain exactly what's wrong. Perhaps your life works well on paper, but you still don't feel truly happy. Perhaps you want to understand yourself better, get clearer about your needs or find out why certain patterns keep repeating. That is a perfectly valid reason to start therapy.

How long does therapy last?

It depends on what you bring. Some people want to work on a specific issue over a shorter period, while others want more time for personal development and deeper self-understanding. With me, therapy isn't meant to go on indefinitely. We keep returning to your direction and what you want to get out of therapy. When you feel you have got what you came for, we can bring it to a close. You're always welcome back if something new comes up.

How often do we meet?

That depends on you and your process. Many people find it helpful to meet regularly — for example weekly or every two weeks — especially at the beginning. Together we find a rhythm that makes sense for you and what we're working on.

How long is a session?

I offer 60-minute sessions.

What happens in the first conversation?

The first conversation is about what you're bringing, and also about getting a sense of what it's like for us to work together. We talk about what's on your mind, what you hope to get from therapy and what direction might make sense. You don't need to have prepared the perfect explanation. We start where you are.

Are our sessions confidential?

Yes. What you tell me in therapy is treated confidentially. I am a psychotherapy student and work under ongoing professional supervision as part of my training. Supervision helps ensure reflection, professional development and quality in my therapeutic work.

Are you a fully qualified psychotherapist?

Not yet. I am a certified wellbeing therapist (trivselsterapeut) and in year 3 of a four-year psychotherapy training programme. I am also training in body-oriented therapy. I therefore offer training therapy under supervision, and my fees reflect that I am still in training.

How do you work?

I work holistically and integratively, seeing thoughts, feelings, relationships and the body's signals as one whole. I take an active part in the conversation and don't follow one fixed method. You can read more under Psychotherapy & body-oriented therapy.

Is therapy relevant if I have a demanding job?

Yes. In fact, it's an area I understand particularly well. I have many years of experience from international business, including Regulatory Affairs in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, and I know a working life of high demands, responsibility, deadlines and performance. You can be capable, ambitious and high-functioning — and still experience stress, restlessness, a lack of joy, difficulty with boundaries or the sense that you can never quite switch off.

What if we're not the right fit?

The relationship between client and therapist matters. That's why we use our first contact to get a sense of whether working together feels right. If it doesn't, that's completely fine — a different therapeutic match may suit you better.

Can I have therapy in English?

Yes. I offer sessions in both Danish and English. I have an international background myself, speak several languages and have lived and worked across different cultures.

Can I have sessions online?

Yes. You can choose between sessions at my practice on Orø and online. Online therapy can be especially practical if you live far away, travel a lot for work or prefer to have your session from home.

Where is your practice?

My practice is on Orø in Isefjord, closer to Copenhagen than many people think. You can read more about the practice and getting there under My practice on Orø.

Can we go outside during therapy?

Yes, by arrangement, part of a regular 60-minute session can take place outdoors in nature on Orø. It should, of course, suit you and what we're working on.
